Woman went into shop and did something totally brazen - but CCTV was on her all the time

CCTV shows the moment a woman brazenly took two bottles of alcohol from the shelves of a store in Gower before placing each in her rucksack. The incident was captured on security cameras inside Shepherds in Gower on Friday, February 28, at 3pm.

The woman took one bottle of Belvedere vodka, worth approximately £50, and one bottle of AU Vodka, costing £35. Carla Humphreys and Luke Borrelli, owners of the historic shop, which has been in the village of Parkmill for 129 years, said they became aware of what had happened the following day.

The discovery came after they reviewed footage captured on cameras, after checking with staff that they had not sold the missing items or put them on account for any regular customers. They then messaged South Wales Police about the matter, but inquiries are understood to be in their very early stages. Never miss a Swansea story by signing up to our newsletter here.

The owners said: "We were gutted when we watched the footage. The woman watched our staff from outside for some time and then made her way in when staff were serving other customers. As a convenience shop goes, they’re higher value items. It feels very violating to see someone so brazenly take something like that. It’s also upsetting for staff who are now on edge. There was a man accompanying the woman who paid for a Snickers from a wallet full of cash."

Shepherds staff have encouraged anyone with information regarding the person seen in the CCTV footage to contact them via their Facebook page by clicking here.
